Filling out a form, emailing a friend, posting a photo and everything we do online -even the simple act of visiting a website or a search engine, leaves a trail.  This trail is called a digital footprint. It is made up of bits and pieces of information on one's computer and on other computers around the world, which allow people to learn about you.

We can take control of our digital footprint, based on what we post online.
Take a look at this video and think about the images of the lighthouse, stadium and permanent marker in relation to your digital footprint.

I learned today that if you put anything on the internet it will stay there
forever. It can be copied, broadcast and searched.

Never go on a website that is for older boys and girls. For example if a game says over 18 don't play the game.

Ignore pop up ads and spam e-mail because they could put a virus on your computer.

I had lots of fun learning about internet safety. It was really interesting. I never knew that we all have a digital footprint and that people can find out everything that you have done on the internet even if you deleted it.

I learned that if you put anything personal on the internet that other people can see, you can not take it back.

I learned that when you leave something on the internet it is always out there and it can be traced and you never leave your full name because there are bad people out there.
